News and Events
Although difficult to do in these volatile times, we are staying optimistic with our events calendar, but at the same time, very aware that the ongoing Covid19 situation may force us to reschedule some of these events.
That said, here is a list of our intentions for your 2021 Diary:
Our first assessment and open day event of the year is scheduled for Thursday May 20th to Saturday May 22nd with the open day being Saturday 22nd. This event will be held at the Friars Carse Hotel, (near Auldgirth) Dumfries & Galloway, DG2 0SA.
We understand that this event may be subject to Government guidelines, but if you do intend to be there, either as a candidate, or an open day attendee, please book in a.s.a.p., especially if you require accommodation.
To book accommodation please contact our events officer Leigh Fidell a.s.a.p. on: email@example.com
The open day cost to the public will be £50 per head. This includes a buffet lunch and a full itinerary of demonstrations by professional AAPGAI instructors from around the world, for further information, or to book your place on the open day, please contact our Secretary Illtyd Griffiths on: firstname.lastname@example.org
The next event is currently in the organisational stage and our Events Officer Leigh Fidell, along with fellow member Dave Matthews are in the process of sourcing appropriate accommodation along the Cornish coastline.
The plan is to hold a member’s only event in the West Country to target Bass on the Fly. Dave knows this area very well and has already identified some likely fishing spots for our members to visit. This will also offer a great opportunity for our members living in the South of the country to get involved, as well as those who wish to travel (if allowed) to take part in this great experience. Members may even wish to tag this event on to a family holiday and take in some of the sites that this beautiful coastline has to offer.
The dates for this event are currently being organised for Friday and Saturday the 18th & 19th June 2021.
To book your place and any required accommodation for this event, please contact our events officer Leigh Fidell a.s.a.p. on: email@example.com
Following on from this we are planning to re-organise our three-day event on the Haddon Estate, just outside Bakewell, on the rivers Derwent and Wye. (originally planned for 2020).
Here is an overview of what the Estate has to offer:
The Haddon estate, controls 28 miles of river, and AAPGAI have been given full use of the beat on the Derwent which offers good vehicle access with a huge grassy well-cut field for demonstrations and casting tuition.
Wading and nymphing is also allowed on this beat and in addition to this we have access (for our Members) to a Dry Fly only beat on the Wye, therefore we have two beats available to us, including some smaller chalk stream fishing. A great opportunity!Overview of the Event:
Day one will afford the committee time to meet and discuss the continued development of the association and create a platform to promote AAPGAI to the public by way of an open day on day two.
Day three will be dedicated to AAPGAI members going fishing on a variety of available waters. This opportunity will be available to members on all three days for those wishing to attend all three.
The dates we are planning to hold this event are Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd August. The public open day will be scheduled for Saturday 21st.
As before, the open day cost to the public will be £50 per head. This includes a buffet lunch and a full itinerary of demonstrations by professional AAPGAI instructors from around the world, for further information, or to book your place on the open day, please contact our Secretary Illtyd Griffiths on: firstname.lastname@example.org
Accommodation for this event will need to be arranged by those wishing to attend, but there are a variety of options in the area. For those members interested please contact our events officer a.s.a.p. on the following email: email@example.com
Our final event of the year will be the usual AAPGAI assessments, open day, and AGM. This event will be held once again at the Caer Beris Manor Hotel in Builth Wells, Powys, Wales, LD2 3NP. Our Events Officer has already booked an additional day for this gathering in the event that the Friars Carse meeting in May should be cancelled due to the current and ongoing Covid19 situation, as this would then see us having to accommodate a larger number of candidates for assessment at that time.
However, the Caer Beris Manor Hotel is a great venue, and more than capable of providing the facilities we need to do this, so we look forward to seeing as many members, and candidates, there as possible to hopefully finish the year off in style.
The dates for this event are now arranged for Wednesday 20th Oct to Sunday 24th Oct, with the open day on Saturday 23rd.
Once again, for those members wishing to attend, and therefore requiring accommodation, please contact our events officer a.s.a.p. on the following email: firstname.lastname@example.org
For those wishing to book in for assessment, or attend the open day (cost to the public £50 per head) which once again includes a buffet lunch and a full itinerary of demonstrations by professional AAPGAI instructors from around the world, please contact our Secretary Illtyd Griffiths a.s.a.p. on: email@example.com
Because of the current Coronavirus situation, arranging bookings for the above events may be more difficult than normal this year. With travel guidelines constantly changing, we envisage a larger proportion of people booking holidays closer to home. Therefore, our Events Officer (Leigh Fidell) would like to finalise as many of these events as quickly as possible. So, if you do intend to join us at one, or more, of the above events can we please ask you to contact Leigh on: firstname.lastname@example.org at your earliest convenience to book your place. Thank You!
Candidates for assessment are already at a high level due to 2020 cancellations, so if you do intend to take an assessment this year, please contact our Secretary Illtyd Griffiths to book your place a.s.a.p. on: email@example.com
Bookings will be prioritised on a first come first served basis!
